A little nose piercing!

I got my nose pierced the other day. Still trying to get used to it. I have really sensitive skin so it still hurts a lot. Have to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't get infected. I'm also putting the stuff on it that they give everyone after you get a piercing. In a couple months, I'm thinking of getting my navel pierced. Not sure though. But I'm content with my 3 piercings for now. Lol.

My favorite quote in Spanish

"Uno aprende a amar, no cuando encuentre a la persona perfecta, sino cuando aprenda a creer en la perfeccion de una persona imperfecta."

Quote of the Night

"Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts. It's what you do with what you have left." ~ Hubert Humphrey

Suicide and Society

This morning I woke up to the news that director Tony Scott jumped off a bridge to his death. He was most notable for his movie Top Gun and was the brother of Ridley Scott. Whenever someone takes their life, its a tragedy. But when an older person does, it sends a message to everyone that suicide is not a generational problem. Suicide is an epidemic in this country. Its estimated that somwhere around the world, I read that a suicide happens every minute or so. And I believe it. We have come to a point where instead of being encouraged to get help, we hear people say, "Get over it" or "Just be happy".  But for someone with mental illness or someone who has suffered trauma and has depression as a result, you can't just get over it. You can't just be happy. It takes much more than that. It takes community, friendship, encouragement, therapy, and more often than not, medication. I know this all too well. I was diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety at 14. And at that point I had been wanting to kill myself since I was 11 thanks to being relentlessly bullied in school. Medication didn't work. Partly because now I've found out that the medicine I was put on, has a huge history of causing suicides. So I stopped it. And continued downhill until one day I decided I had had enough. I took a lot of ibuprofen with the intent of killing myself. Little did I know that I took enough to make me sick, but not actually die. Still, it was an attempt nontheless. I haven't attempted it since, but it does cross my mind. Especially recently this year with everything that has gone on in my life. I have days where I want to die. Then I have days where I have hope that ill become someone and live my dreams. But the main reason why I don't attempt it again, is cause I know it will hurt the people I'm closest to. I manage it and if I find myself seriously close to the edge, then I get help. But for others, they can't see that. They are so far gone that they aren't in the right mindset to know to the consequences of suicide. They have so much pain that it overwhelms their whole souls. And they feel the only way out is to be out forever. But its not. I believe suicide is preventable. I believe that if we pay attention to people that we can help them when they are too afraid to ask for help. I believe that we all can save lives. Just like with addiction prevention, the same can be done with suicide prevention. I want to link to a site that deals with both on a more in-depth way. Its TWLOHA . It stands for "To Write Love On Her Arms" if you want to learn more about suicide awareness and prevention and also addiction awareness and prevention and self-harm. They have resources, stories and ways we all can get involved. We are all in this life together. We need each other. We need to help each other. We need to save lives. Heal lives. Make lives better. I hope this helps someone out there. Have a beautiful day. God bless you all and take care.

FREE PUSSY RIOT!!!!!!!!!!

The ladies of Pussy Riot were sentenced to two years in jail this week. This is horrible. Putin and his oppressive government are at fault for this. Please everyone speak up for these ladies who are now behind bars for exercising their freedom of speech. We have to use our freedom to help them gain theirs, just like we help other dissidents around the world by speaking up for them. These strong women deserve freedom!! And I have a couple of words for Putin and his thugs: FUCK YOU PUTIN!!!!!!!! FREE PUSSY RIOT NOW!!!!!!

Sometimes It's Best To Walk

This morning getting off of my first bus downtown, the second one came fast. Myself and another woman were walking towards it and the driver stopped. Then all of a sudden right when we got up to the bus, he drives right off, leaving us. Its not the first time this has happened to people. It happens all the time. I'm not going to worry about why he left without picking us up. I sat back down waiting for the next bus which comes on 20 min intervals. But then I realized my place is about a mile and a half away, at most. And I've never walked the distance yet. And its a beautiful day so why not? Even with my feet hurting I walked the whole way. It took me about 25 mins. I've realized that walking is not only good for us physically, but it is also good for us spiritually and mentally. You get to enjoy nature. You get to have a clear mind. Seeing things you might not have seen before. I'm horribly tired though. I put on a pedometer one night at work and I clocked in 13 miles of walking distance in an 8 hr shift.....thank God for Dr. Scholls insoles. Lol. But seriously, if you take a bus home and you can make the walk, do it once in a while. It will do you some good. And whether or not you realize it, you are actually walking with God. Because He is there beside you. Its Friday everyone. And to close out this post, I have just 3 words : VIVA CUBA LIBRE!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

An Early Birthday Present

I live in a house with multiple tenants, including children. One of the women has twin girls, 8 yrs old. They heard it was my birthday tomorrow and when I went up to the steps of the basement, I found a hand-made card wishing me a Happy Birthday. They spelled my name wrong. Lol. Spelling it as "Clena". But I didn't mind. I loved it. Children are so sweet. They are the only ones in this world that have so much love in their hearts that we can't even begin to understand. In my opinion, having someone give me a little hand made card is so much better than something materialistic. Because it came from the heart. And that's what matters most. I'm happy. I'm happy because I have people around me that love me, even if at times I can't see it. My best friend and I have known each other since we were 11. We never thought we would survive until 18....and now we both are turning 26 this month. Time flies by so fast. But I'm thankful I made it this long.

UPDATE: Now the boys in the house, ages 3 and 6, also made me cards and just gave them to me. :D One says, "I like you." I love them so much!!!!!!

San Judas Tadeo

Random Thoughts for Tuesday

1. Everyone needs to have some fun. No matter what your job is or where you are. Just have some fun!!!!!!!! Everyone takes everything way too seriously and we are forgetting the meaning of fun.

2. Music is a wonderful thing.

3. Russia needs to free Pussy Riot immediately. The Russian government is still jailing and murdering its citizens for speaking their minds and daring to go against Putin.

4. To the person who keeps following me, then un-following me on Twitter, (at least 3 times now), just stop. Its extremely annoying and just plain creepy. Its not that hard to decide whether to follow someone or not. I'm half-tempted just to block your ass so you won't have to go through the trouble of un-following me again. If my tweets aren't interesting, then don't follow. Its simple.

5. Men, don't brag to every woman about how "good" you are in bed.......cause most of the time, the ones that brag to everyone, don't have shit. A vibrator would probably give more pleasure than you can. So if you're good in bed, don't publisize it. Your woman will do that for you when she tells her friends how good you are. Lol.

6. What the hell is up with all these crazy bastards going into places and shooting and taking hostages? We are in major trouble as a society.

7. Hot dogs with cheese is delicious. And great for breakfast too.

8. My birthday is Friday and I have no idea what I'm doing yet. Spent way too much money already and have to wait till next week to go out. So, I think ill watch movies. And NO ONE better ruin my day. :-)

9. Is cutting my hair to shoulder-length today. It grows way too fast.

10. Cafe Bustelo is awesome. Everyone should have some.

11. I realized today that I am extremely blessed to have friends that care. And who put up with me cause I like to talk. A lot.

12. "Good morning" in Irish Gaelic is "Maidin mhaith".

13. I hope everyone has a peaceful day. God bless and take care. Muchos abrazos para todos.

Prayer of the Day

Sancte Michal Archangele, defende nos in proelio; contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur : tuque, Princeps militiae caelestis, satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo, divina virtute in infernum detrude. Amen.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou. O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who roam about the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Punk Band on Trial in Russia

Watch "Russian punk rock band on trial" on YouTube Everyone please watch this video and spread the word. We need these women to be freed immediately. The Pussy Riot members have been jailed for political reasons. And I loved what they said. "Virgen Mary, drive Putin away." These women have balls. Big balls to go up against a Communist regime and its President. We must stand behind them and support them to be freed.

And let me say one thing. I have noticed a lot of so-called human rights activists that are completely silent on this. And most of them being men. When Cuban punk band Porno Para Ricardo were arrested in Cuba, activists from all over the world condemned the Castro regime. Even though many did not agree with PPR's name nor their lyrics, they still campaigned for their release. So my question is, why be silent when females are jailed? Putin is no better than Castro. Both are Communist countries that oppress their people. I call on all human rights activists to stand up and call for the release of Pussy Riot members. If you're offended at what they did, then fine. Be offended. But remember, in a Communist country like Russia, the Church is in bed with Putin and supports him politically. And these women know it. So please, put religion aside and look at the whole picture here. These women deserve to be freed. FREE PUSSY RIOT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote of the Day

"The Church is not a museum of saints, but rather a hospital for sinners." ~ Father Bob Sewvello

Can everyone please keep Fr. Sewvello in your prayers? He is currently battling cancer. Thank you. God bless.
