No Human Rights for Cubans

President Obama went to Cuba yesterday.  I have purposefully refused to watch media coverage of it. If you know about Cubans struggle for human tights then you know how the mainstream media will spin his trip. They will give lies about Cuba. Show pictures that are staged by the Castro regime. What they will not be showing is the scores of Cuban dissidents beaten before Obama's visit.

This visit is a slap in the face to Cubans. The so called leader of the free world visiting a communist country that oppresses it's people. Not one word out of his mouth about freedom or human rights. It's pathetic. Not one single thing the Obama administration has done has helped the Cuban people. Loosening travel restrictions hasn't helped Cubans gain their rights. And it never will. And Obama knows that. This trip is just a slap in the face to Cubans and Cuban Americans exiled from their homeland.

Cubans are beaten, jailed, raped, tortured and threatened on a daily basis by the Castro regime if they dare speak out against the government. They live in extreme poverty while Castro's people in the government live well above poverty. This trip puts on a facade about Cuba. A facade that needs to be torn down. Enough is enough. The Cuban people are the ones who are suffering. Their human rights are being violated and the one country that should be there to help now has a leader that turns a blind eye and ignores them. Our President's trip to Cuba is shameful and pathetic to say the least.

Obama's trip to Cuba will change nothing for Cubans. They will still be harassed and jailed everyday. They will still live in fear. They will still struggle to survive. In the end it will be up to Cubans to change their country. But it doesn't help when you have a leader of a democracy meeting with communist leaders and ignoring those who are oppressed. The Cuban people deserve so much better than this. They deserve freedom and human rights. And anything less than that, is unacceptable.
